Anita Bulindi is a 26-year-old Tanzanian Youth, living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) for 22 years, since she was diagnosed at the age of four years. She has been a volunteer for Diabetes and Youth initiatives since she was eight, through Life for a Child program, the Voice of Diabetes and as a representative for people living with NCDs. Anita’s main purpose for volunteering and being part of such initiatives is to inspire others, motivate young children and youth with NCDs to push through life and attain their goals. She also hopes to engage with stakeholders to find means to help more where it is needed for the betterment of health and lived experiences especially for children living with NCDs. She has a strong passion for community development, health promotion and behavioural change through mass mobilization and advocacy by realizing the influence of the mass media and communication.
She has a Bachelors degree in Mass Communication and currently completing her dissertation for Masters of Public Health. She’s looking forward to publishing her research, which is related to the lived experiences of T1D adolescents living in urban areas.
