The EIU research, Addressing non-communicable diseases in adolescence, assesses how ten representative countries of different income levels are addressing the challenges associated with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) among adolescents. It is based on an NCD scorecard evaluating national efforts in policy, awareness and implementation, with a focus on four risk factors/health areas: healthy diets, nutrition and physical exercise; alcohol and tobacco; sexual and reproductive health; and mental health.
In April, NCD Child launched a global art contest to promote adolescent voices through artistic expression. The contest aimed to bring awareness to how young people are affected by non-communicable diseases and to share their authentic messages with policy stakeholders on a global scale. The theme, a play on World Health Day, was Health For Youth = #HealthForAll.
Young people between the ages 12-21 from around the world were invited to submit their original artwork in two categories: Drawings and Videos. After receiving more than 60 inspiring entries from 25 countries, the following artists were selected as the finalists.
This Call to Action was developed by the NCD Child Taskforce on Essential Medicines & Equipment (EME), led by NCD Governing Council Member, Nicky Gray. It describes the importance of how different stakeholders must coordinate their efforts to ensure young people and their families have optimum access to appropriate essential medicines and equipment.

The youth delegates of the Global NCD Alliance Forum 2017 are leaving Sharjah with a renewed sense of enthusiasm, empowerment, and urgency in the fight to reduce the global impact of NCDs, through prevention and control. Over the course of five days, twenty-two youth champions deliberated, negotiated, and finalized three key priorities to help guide their advocacy in the coming year. The presented Call to Action: Youth, NCDs, & 2018 was endorsed during the Forum as a time-bound and measurable agenda in the lead up to the 2018 UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs. The priorities and activities reflect key areas for action by and for young people, with the support of civil society and government.
